What I know

What do I know? I know many things to ask this is to ask something like this can come with a simple short answer like yes or no or could come with a complicated algebraic answer in which involves 2 pages of work. I know what its like to be there for a friend

Michael gives a "thumbs up" to his essay.
when they need you the most weather it’s as a look out for authority as they get into a fight or to be there when they need comfort. I know what its like to have a friend betray you and feel like u just got stabbed in chest. I know what its like to fall in love with a friend and wonder if they feel the same about you. I’ve come to know acceptance and rejection, love and hatred I know what its like to be ostracized from everyone to be come an outcast. I know what its like to move away from the ones you love to leave behind your closest friends. I know what its like to be taken advantage of. I know what its like to have almost been shocked by a tazer. I know what its like to have your hand smashed in a car door and to have your foot run over by a van. I know what it’s like to be angry with your friends and want to never speak or see them ever again. I know what its like to be so afraid that you can’t even move I know what its like to be as happy as you can be. What else do I know? Why not ask I ill tell you if I know or don’t.

Education from failure

In this passage from Medusa and the snail by biologist Lewis Thomas he explains how many common day mistakes are what can lead to breakthroughs in human actions. For example if it were not a mistake of not cleaning up a scientist would of never found out about penicillin & one of the greatest medical discoveries yet.

To make a mistake and learn from it. That is always has been and should be common knowledge. To be able to let your creativity just wonder as you try to see where the mistakes happened or if your mistake is some sort of blessing in disguise. To expect & try to be right all the time is to be a perfectionist & if you do fail it leads you to believe that it can’t be done which in turn becomes the failure ironically because if you kept going you could have made some type of scientific achievement. Lewis Thomas author of the medusa and the snail trys to unveil that mistake is the centerfold of human thought & if it were not for it we would be going to the doctor for every little cut because it was infected and now it must be cut off.

I have had a similar experience, I’ve lied to my parents on many occasions mainly from being scared and many of the times I regret doing them such as one time I lost my new I-pod at school and my parents would ask over and over what happened to it I was just too scared to tell the truth so I just kept lying and pretending I didn’t know where it was. The sad part about this is that I was a terrible liar. From this I learned to be a better liar.

So over all I would have to ask. Have you ever had a learning experience from the mistake or failure? If not why? And if u have what was it? Do you now believe that that failure is needed to live a normal life? You’ll never try if u never fail and if u never failed did you really try?

Honesty and morals
I would rather lose with honesty then have to win dishonestly and deal with guilt. Because if you win dishonestly, yeah you might win but it’ll be a hollow victory & all the trust & faith you have earned from others. You will lose in an instant. What’s is worse than this is if you cheat and get caught doing it literally everything you had your medals, fans and most of all trust you’ll lose them all. But if you lose honestly you’ll lose but you can keep your pride and everyone has faith in you still and all the fans you had you might lose a few just because you lost but most if not all will stay with you because you were true to your word.

The tiger mother.
The battle hymn of the Tiger Mother. One book that I’m pretty sure will not be so popular or loved by mothers as much as twilight was. One thing it sure did do though was create and set off an outrage among American mothers of western mothers as Amy Chua the author of this book calls them. Now all of these angered mothers accused Amy of creating robotic perfections out of her daughters. Amy thought comes back and accuses American mothers of being weak willed rubber spine and lazy parents with their children. In this paper I will tell you of Chua’s ‘different’ parenting style along with some other critics styles then at the near end will throw in my own opinion.

First off Amy’s style of parenting or as it is well known is the Chinese way. What it sounds like wants and expects from her children is nothing but the absolute best and perfection. If the child were to get something as an A- it would a disgrace on not only the child but the family as well and when it comes down to the desires of the child it’s more like the parents are puppeteers and the child is the puppet. Whatever the kid wants is immediately over ruled by the parents wants. This is completely unfair to the child because they are taking away the child's dreams and hopes destroying them and replacing it with what the parents wants. What is confusing to me is when Amy Chua says “Chinese parents believe that their kids owe them everything” and when she says “ the fact that the parents have sacrificed so much for their children” first off why the child never asked nor wanted any of this so why try and force it on the child in the first place?
Next I have the thoughts of a David Brooks. From what I can tell is that this man David Brooks believes that Amy Chua is being way to soft on her children & that learning on an educational level is far easier than it would be learning on a social level that learning social skills rather than social studies is much more important and difficult to obtain mainly because this is something you can learn in some small class of 20 or so but more along the lines of the world class home room to over billions of people and the instructor life. Sure she may be pushing her children to their max limit into getting A’s in all their classes but does she notice that by doing so they are failing a much more important subject. Life, I wish she recognizes that in some important ways the school cafeteria is more intellectually demanding that a library.
Next we have the style used by Ayelet Waldman “in defense of a guilty mother”. The way this woman works it with her children was not really working with her children night after night with hundreds of worksheets to improve their work. But more as to letting them work there won ways up the ranks of letters and getting their own medals by fighting their own battles. Her daughter suffers from a dyslexic and yet she was able to teach herself to read! She had no help from her mother she actually gave up and yet her child did it all on her own.
Next we have Hanna Rosin “mother inferior”. Why does she call herself this? Maybe it’s because one day she was playing with her child and she gets on all fours growls like a tiger at her son and he laughs and pats her head saying “kitty Kat”. She was bested by her youngest son and isn’t any tiger mom as more along the lines of a pussycat. She allows her kids to do a lot of what they want without any complaints they can come home with decent grades of the usual “B” and “C” and be fine without having to worry of getting yelled and scream at. By their vicious tiger mom. This would actually accuse Amy Chua of also being a little pussycat rather to a tiger.

Now what this father did was very crafty and in a way something of reverse psychology. His daughter was failing some classes and not bringing home the best of grades from her school so one day her father comes to her and tells her to go ahead and fail what is I gave you permission to fail? The daughter couldn’t believe it and instead of doing as her father gave her permission to do she actually worked harder and did better bringing home “A” and “B”. How or why it worked? I’m not sure but this man was one crafty guy.now I’m going to add in my own opinion about what Amy is doing with her children. In some ways I guess I agree with what she does because yes does care for her children enough to care what they get in school but she really does take it the extreme. Making her children take hundreds of practice test all throughout the night and that’s just taking in a little too far but she only does all of this out of “love” and the fact that she is devoting this time to get her kids into a good college and a good job.

Now I’m going to tell you what I really and truly believe and that is that this woman is way too hard on her kids, yeah she might be easy on them with what David said about the real life of socializing but on the other hand with what she does to them at home is just menacing. She keeps her youngest daughter at the piano and doesn’t let her stop for water to go to eat or to even use the bathroom! She would rather have her pee on the seat them to allow her to stop playing for a moment to go to the bathroom! Isn’t this a bit on the extremist side? Well how they survived all of this is really something.

Well. In conclusion all I can say is that Amy has a lot of nerve to something like the battle hymn of a tiger mother and not expect some sort of repercussion from all of the American mother that would read it, because there was sure something of an uprising to it and look at what it’s brought up? All of these different opinions I guess in some way it was a good idea now a lot of parents are aware of what others are saying about them and maybe they’ll take it more seriously but who knows.

Meadea paper do you believe its ok?

do you believe that getting revenge is okay no matter what it may take to get it? well Medea believed so In this revengeful tale of love and hate mistrust & death "Medea" by Euripides, Medea took revenge on her husband Jason the one and only way she knew would hurt him the most and hit him the hardest even though at first she didn't want to she took the live of two young boys. Now she did love them both very much she just hated jason so much more for leaving them. also she would of rather have them die a quick and painless death then to have be tortured and killed by some stranger. I believe that even though it wasn't really necessary to do that it really is all Jason fault that she did that he pushed her into doing it & basically put the sword in her hand she just brought it down on them
one particular reason its Jason fault is because he had left her for a rich young princess he just left them in the dust as if they were nothing & he had made a promise to her to love her and have faith in it to always with them to the end. After breaking a promise like that i do think she went a little to far but she did love him so after breaking it and leaving her she just snapped and couldn't handle it not to mention leaving her to fend for herself and raise to kids at the same time? that's inst fair on her at all and its no wonder why she was so angered with him
One thing she shouldn't of done and really didn't have to do though was to kill her children. i mean yes she did it to get back at Jason but there must of been a different or another choice they were so young. she could have left them maybe with her sitter and hope that he/she would raise them as one of there own or maybe give to another family that wants kids like adoption. or at the very least hid them away with her yes it would of been difficult but it seems like a better decision them homicide
Lastly Jason should have noticed that Medea must of not been so mentally stable when she killed her own brother just to get away from her island none of this would of happened. he also should of loved Medea to the end then to think of it so politically.if he had wanted to be a part of a royal family and have the luxury then he should of gone somewhere else or not be with Medea at all. Now look at what he has done? it was once said " hell hath no fury like a woman scorn" Jason obviously didn't know or believe that, well now he knows the fury all too well.
so in conclusion Medea had brought justice to her love it might not of been the best idea but she got her revenge on the low life man Jason. it was all his fault and he is all to blame for the death of the king the princess and his two sons and he now must bare the weight of this guilt for the rest of his life.
